Everyone was cheerfully climbing in the car when the calm and happiness was shattered by the observation of a small (and I mean small) yellow spider carefully climbing on its silk up to the ceiling of the car. Elise, 8, was the first to spot the unwelcome guest and announced its presence by pointing and shouting "Siiiiiiiiiiiiideeeeeeeeer!" This was promptly followed by Kaitlin, 6, looking up and, upon confirming that indeed there was a spider, throwing her hands up into the air and singing "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Cameron, 7, after hearing Kaitlin's confirmation scream, went immediately into ninja mode, crouching in the corner of the car with hands in defense position. The baby of the family, Nora, 3, seeing Cameron in ninja mode and hearing her sisters cries of distress, threw her arms over her head and began screaming such a scream that one can only assume she was attempting to rid the car of the spider by the intensity of her decibels. Karen keeping her wits about her, something that is not always known to happen when dealing with spiders, grabbed baby's shoe and heroically sent the spider to an early grave, whereupon the screaming and ninja pose immediately ended and calm is restored to the lovely evening.
After buckling seat belts and setting out for home the family began to discuss the incident and the story is retold from many different view points. Nora wishing to have her side of the story told said to everyone "I not see a byder, I just scream."
